How long do you leave mosaic tiles
before grouting?
So you've found a strong surface, created your pattern and glued your tiles to your backer - wha's next? Grouting your tiles is the last stage in making your mosaic, but it's important not to rush it. To prevent your pattern from slipping, you'll need to give your adhesive enough time to set properly. We recommend leaving it to set for 24-48 hours depending on the type of adhesive and the surface.
This is called curing and is perhaps the most important part of the process. As a general rule of thumb, you should wait at least 24 hours before grouting. The adhesive should be dry and there should be no slippage or movement in your tile pattern. Don't be tempted to take any chances and always make sure it is thoroughly dry - remember the adhesive under the tiles will take the most time to cure.

Grouting with a cement mortar is a durable and easy technique. If the mix obtains a crumble and damp consistency, gently pour it onto your mosaic and spread it around evenly. You can then remove any excess cement and work the grout toward the edges.
Ensure you also allow the grout to properly set and seal the mosaic so that it's weatherproofed and waterproofed. Some tiles, like glass tiles, are non-porous, so they lend themselves well to outdoor environments as they don't need sealing.
If you are looking to grout your mosaic tiles, be sure to prepare yourself with the best tiling accessories.
All of our mosaic tiles are available at extremely reasonable prices, so whatever the colour, you'll get great value!
