Yes, mosaic tiles are one of the best options for a wet room. Their small size means lots of grout lines, which give bare feet extra grip on wet floors. They also bend easily around drains, slopes and curved shower areas where larger tiles would need cutting, making them ideal for the graded floor a wet room needs.
For floors, choose tiles rated as slip-resistant, ideally with a matt or textured finish and an R10 or higher rating. Matt ceramic and natural stone handle floor wear well. For walls, glass, gloss ceramic and metallic finishes all work since they don't need the same grip rating. Matching or coordinating the two keeps the space feeling joined up.
The tiles themselves resist water, but the tiling alone won't waterproof a wet room. You need a tanking (waterproof membrane) system applied to the floor and walls beneath the tiles first. Glass mosaics are highly water-resistant, whilst natural stone is more porous and needs sealing.
Use a waterproof or epoxy grout designed for wet areas, as standard grout absorbs moisture and stains over time. Seal cement-based grout after fitting and reseal it once a year. Good ventilation matters too — run an extractor fan during and after showering. Wiping the tiles down now and then stops soap residue from building up in the grout lines.
You can, though wet rooms are less forgiving than a standard bathroom because the waterproofing and floor gradient must be spot on. If the tanking or the fall towards the drain is done badly, water pools or leaks through. Many DIYers tile the walls themselves and bring in a professional for the floor and membrane.
Mosaic tiles almost always come pre-mounted on mesh-backed sheets, usually around 300mm square. This makes fitting far quicker, since you lay whole sheets rather than positioning each tiny piece by hand. You can cut individual pieces off the mesh to fit edges, corners and around the drain.
Measure the total floor and wall area in square metres, then add roughly 10% extra for cuts, wastage and any future repairs. Wet rooms often need more offcuts than a flat bathroom because of the drain and sloped floor. Keeping a few spare sheets from the same batch is sensible, as colours can vary slightly between production runs.
