Why are some mosaic tile colours
more expensive?

There are a lot of factors which can affect the price of mosaic tiles, including the colour and design. Tile prices can be affected by the materials used to make them. For example, plain glass tiles may work out cheaper than marble and metal tiles, but they can be more expensive than ceramic tiles.

A colour or design that is in demand might work out more expensive than a less popular tile, too. A good rule of thumb is that the more work goes into producing a tile, the more it will cost. This includes the design, but also the availability of the materials and pigments.

Other Factors that affect the Price

Tiles that have a standard, uniform cut are faster and therefore cheaper to produce than tiles with varying sizes and shapes.

The design also impacts the cost. A highly stylised tile, such as a patterned or printed design will cost more than a plain one.

If a tile has been glazed, hand painted, or given a rustic or textured finish, the cost will be higher to reflect the additional work required.
